While walking through the beautiful Westhoek, I took a picture of this tranquil landscape, with its wide fields, babbling watercourse and imposing cloudy skies. The serene atmosphere and the play of light and shadow inspired me to turn this photo into a digital oil painting.
Using digital painting techniques, I reworked the original photo into a work of art reminiscent of classic oil paintings. By using texture brushes, light and colour editing and adding brushstrokes, I wanted to bring to life the vibrant yet timeless atmosphere of this typically Flemish landscape.
The result is a digital interpretation that captures the essence of the moment: the silence, space and power of nature in the Westhoek. The painting is not only a tribute to the landscape itself, but also to the way modern technology and traditional art can meet.
