Severinsbrücke and crane houses in Cologne

by Walter G. Allgöwer

On a mild evening in June, when the soft light of the setting sun bathed the city in a golden glow, a breathtaking panoramic photo of Cologne was taken. The Severin Bridge, which stretches majestically across the Rhine, forms the central focus of this picture. The bridge, a symbol of modern engineering, is reflected in the calm waters of the river and creates a harmonious interplay of structure and nature.
The Rheinauhafen, a lively neighbourhood that combines old and new in a fascinating way, stretches along the riverbank. The striking Kranhäuser tower into the sky and dominate the scenery with their unique architecture. These iconic buildings, which once served as warehouses and now house luxurious flats and offices, epitomise the city's transformation into the modern age.
In the soft light of the evening, the crane houses appear almost magical, their glass façades reflecting the warm light and lending the picture a special depth. The harmonious blend of historical elements and contemporary design is reflected throughout the Rheinauhafen and shows Cologne as a city that skilfully combines tradition and innovation.
Europe shows itself from its most beautiful side here: the interplay of nature and architecture, history and modernity is impressively captured in this panoramic photo. It is a quiet moment of peace and beauty that touches the soul and expresses the uniqueness of this city in the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia.
