This picture was created in a phase of my life in which I had to deal with some conflicts with myself and the world.
We like to close our eyes to things we don't want to see, yet we know they exist but we don't want to recognise them. So we look away or, as I have illustrated in my picture, we close our eyes to it!

As a little country girl, I grew up on a farm. Nobody there knew where my interest in art came from, but even as a child I was interested in the paintings of Matisse, Van Gogh and Frida. As a little girl, I painted a lot and dreamed of becoming famous as a painter myself. But one day, when I was given my father's old camera as a present, I only wanted to take photographs and so, years later, I became an art photographer.
