Green roofs are becoming increasingly popular. And rightly so: they retain water, they keep heat inside and they attract butterflies and other insects. And they also look much nicer than traditional roofs with gravel or bitumen.
Sedum, or in English stonecrop, is a plant often used on green roofs. There are lots of different species, with lots of different colours. So the term "green roof" should not be taken too literally. This work is based on a photo of an overgrown roof where the colour red predominated.
Rotating seven digital copies of that photo and overlaying them transparently created this geometric image. As a final edit, I added a 3d effect to it, giving the effect of blobs of paint that have just solidified.
Sedum Star is part of a sedum triptych. The other two works, Sedum Spiral and Sedum Sextet, are also available in my webshop. But the three works can also be seen separately.
My work can be found in the border regions of photography, painting and computer visuals. With my company 3Develop I do work in commission but I use the same techniques, skills and software to make free work.
