About ‘Sealife’ by Mieneke Kraaijeveld

In a deep blue sea, a colourful underwater world comes to life, teeming with distinctive sea creatures. From a friendly octopus and a graceful striped fish to a curious crab on the seabed; each creature is hand-drawn and has its own unique character.

Look closely and discover the rich textures of chalk, pencil and ink that give this piece its unique depth and artisanal feel. The soft, natural shapes of the coral and sea plants create a harmonious whole that radiates tranquillity, whilst the playful details continue to fascinate.

This textured artwork is a stunning centrepiece for a creative living room, a soothing bedroom or a cheerful, adventurous children’s room. Perfect for anyone who loves nature, the sea and hand-drawn illustrations with a story to tell.

This piece is handmade and composed of all sorts of individually drawn elements. I’ve used ink, pencil, charcoal and watercolour. I draw exclusively in black and grey. I add the colour later, after carefully devising a colour palette. I draw distinct elements, but also loose brushstrokes, textures and abstract shapes, which I put onto paper in an expressive way. It makes me very happy and gives me energy when I’m creating this. All the hand-drawn elements are then scanned, combined and coloured to form a digital collage in Photoshop.

My name is Mieneke Kraaijeveld. From my studio just south of Arnhem, I create vibrant, multi-layered illustrations with deep, vivid colours and fine details. My greatest source of inspiration is nature and the animal kingdom. What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
