A Westland Sea King Mk.48 rescue helicopter of the Belgian Air Force is ready to land on the beach. The Belgian Air Force's Sea King has flown for 43 years and rescued 1,700 people. The Belgian Air Force's 40th Search and Rescue Squadron had Sea Kings in service from 1975 to 2019. It ordered five Westland Sea King MK48s in 1974. The aircraft carried the registration RS01 to RS05. All together, the five helicopters carried out 3,309 rescue operations, including bringing to safety 30 people on board the capsized ferry Herald of Free Enterprise in 1986.
