Winter in Schiedam, photo was taken on a cold winter day from one of the three cast iron drawbridges across the Lange Haven.
The Lange Haven is a harbour with a length of about 550 meters in the centre of the South-Holland town of Schiedam.
The Lange Haven forms the connection between the Schiedamse Schie at the Beursbrug and the Buitenhaven at the Koemarktbrug. Halfway the Lange Haven lies the Appelmarktbrug, a cast-iron drawbridge built around 1860. When a boat is passing through the harbour, two bridge keepers pull the bridge up by hand. At the end of the Lange Haven lies the Koemarktbrug. Between the Appelmarkt bridge and the Koemarkt bridge lies the Taan bridge. This was, in 2017, built in the same style as the Appelmarkt Bridge.
