For work, I was in San Francisco, a city that always has something special to offer. My camera comes with me on trips as standard, as photography is my passion, and I try to make the most of every opportunity to capture a unique moment.
One evening I decided to head towards the bay, with the idea of photographing the Bay Bridge during sunset. The conditions were perfect: the sky colored in warm shades of orange and yellow, and the sun slowly disappeared behind the clouds. A few sailboats bobbed in the bay, adding to the vibrancy of the image.
I had my tripod ready and was able to print at the right moment. The contrast between the bridge, the water and the colorful sky gave exactly the atmosphere I was looking for. Moments like these are rare, and as a photographer I try not only to capture them, but also to translate them into a work that touches people.
Back home, the second part of the process then begins: selecting and editing the image so that it is suitable for my shop at Werk aan de Muur. This takes time and attention, but if the end result is in line with what I had in mind, then I am satisfied.
I hope this work not only shows a piece of San Francisco, but also something of the peace and beauty I experienced there. Perhaps it will also bring a touch of Californian sunset to your wall.
