Alcatraz is one of the most famous former high-security prisons in the United States of America and was used from 1934 to 1963. The big crook Al Capone was imprisoned here from 1934-1939. The cells were approximately 1.50m x 3.00m in size. There were several escape attempts in history, but none were successful. The prisoners usually disappeared without a trace in the cold water of the bay or were caught and overpowered by the guards.
