About the artwork

San Cristóbal de las Casas (Tzotzil: Jobel) is een stad in de Mexicaanse deelstaat Chiapas. San Cristóbal heeft 186.425 inwoners (2018), waarvan een groot deel van de bevolking bestaat uit Tzotzil Maya. Het is de hoofdplaats van de gemeente San Cristóbal de las CasasSan Cristóbal werd in 1528 gesticht door Diego de Mazariegos, die het Ciudad Real noemde. Na de onafhankelijkheid van Mexico kreeg de stad haar huidige naam, ze is genoemd naar Bartolomé de las Casas, geestelijke en voorvechter van rechten voor de indiaanse bevolking. Het was oorspronkelijk de hoofdstad van Chiapas, een functie die de stad tijdens het Porfiriaat kwijtraakte aan het meer westelijk gelegen Tuxtla Gutiérrez. Naar verluidt waren de inwoners hier zo ontstemd over, dat zij gedurende de Mexicaanse Revolutie feller vochten dan inwoners van andere steden.San Cristóbal is bekend vanwege haar koloniale architectuur. Het is een populaire bestemming voor toeristen, ook omdat de Mayastad Palenque er niet ver vandaan ligt. In 1994 werd de stad ingenomen door de zapatisten tijdens hun strijd voor een waardige behandeling van de inheemse plattelandsbevolking.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
