Salzburg is an Austrian city located on the border with Germany at the foot of the Eastern Alps. The Salzach River flows through the center of the city. On the left bank is the Old Town, designated as a pedestrian zone, with buildings from the Middle Ages and Baroque. On the opposite side of the river stretches the New Town from the 19th century. In the house where Mozart was born in the Old Town there is now a museum displaying original instruments from the famous composer's childhood.
The Collegiate Church in Salzburg is the church of the University of Salzburg and dates from the Baroque period. It is located at the Universitätsplatz.
The Edmundsburg is located above the Salzburg Festival Houses on the Mönchsberg. The three-story, cubic building was built between 1694 and 1696 by order of Abbot Edmund Sinnhuber OSB of Stift Sankt Peter.
