Abbott Handerson Thayer was a prolific American painter, naturalist and teacher. As a painter he painted a lot of animals, nature, landscapes and more, but is best known for his angel paintings, some of which depicted his children as models. Later in life, he and his son wrote a groundbreaking book about natural protective camouflage in nature, which was mocked for some of its theory, by various people including Theodore Roosevelt.
