About ‘Rursee’ by Lida Bruinen

The Rur Dam "Rurtalsperre Schwammenauel" is a dam in the Ruhr in the German town of Heimbach. This dam was built to regulate the water level in the lower reaches of the Ruhr and for generating electricity through a hydroelectric plant.
The dam was built between 1934 and 1938. In 1939 he was commissioned.
By the end of World War II was the Helm in the front area between German troops and allied troops. On February 10, 1945, German troops sabotaged the valves of the dam so that the allied operation Grenade sustained two weeks late. Between 1955 and 1959, the dam has increased by twenty meters to the current 77 meters above the old bed of the river. Thus the surface of the Ruhr More was expanded considerably, up to the town Einruhr. The abandonment of land and farms and houses, initially met with fierce resistance. Now it is in harmony with the natural environment more beautiful creation that has great tourist attraction.
The reservoir for the dam is almost eight square kilometers. It will contain up to 200 million cubic meters of water. In the middle of the lake lies the island Eichert. The vegetation on the island consists almost entirely of wood. The highest point of the island is 36 meters above the water level of the reservoir.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
