Royal Dutch Mint on the Merwedekanaal in Utrecht The neo-renaissance building of the Royal Dutch Mint on Leidseweg, more popularly known as De Munt, was built around 1910. Before then, the mint house was located on Oudegracht near Neude. The Merwedekanaal and the Leidse Rijn played an important logistical role in the choice of the new location. The Royal Dutch Mint has been the only body in the Netherlands authorised to mint and issue coins since 1807. I took this photo on 21 June 2019.
