Royal Air Force Lockheed C-130H Hercules.
Registration: G-781.
Aircraft name: Bob van der Stok.
The Lockheed C-130 is a medium-heavy transport aircraft capable of carrying up to 17,500 kilos, 128 infantrymen or 92 paratroopers over a distance of about 5,500 kilometres.
The Hercules can land on and take off from very primitive airfields with short runways. At the rear of the fuselage is a large loading ramp for loading and unloading goods. This tailgate allows the aircraft to load and unload without having to use airport loading facilities. This flap can also be opened in flight to allow parachutists to jump.
This photo was taken on Saturday 21 September 2024 at Eindhoven Air Base when the aircraft took off with paratroopers on board who were to be dropped over the Ginkelse Heide.
