The view of Rio de Janeiro from Sugar Loaf Mountain at sunset is an unforgettable experience that shows the Brazilian city on Copacabana in all its beauty. As the sun slowly sinks behind the mountains of the Serra do Mar, it bathes the entire area in a warm, golden light that softly outlines the contours of the city.
I saw this for the first time in 1979 in the film "007-Moonraker" with Roger Moore. I really wanted to go there. Now the time had come.
The sky changes from bright orange and pink to deep purple, and the colours are reflected in the calm waters of Guanabara Bay. From up here, you have an impressive view of the city's landmarks, including the famous Corcovado with the statue of Christ rising majestically above the scenery. The beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema stretch like curved lines along the coast, and the lights of the city slowly begin to glow as dusk falls.
The many small hills and islands that surround Rio seem to emerge from the fog, and the panorama appears almost surreal. The contrast between the bustling metropolis, the lush nature of the Tijuca forest and the endless ocean is particularly impressive at sunset. It is a moment that captures the diversity and magic of Rio de Janeiro in a unique way and remains deeply etched in the memory.
