About ‘Ring’ by Maria Meester

Abstract work with an oval ring shape as the central element, surrounded by blue-green, earthy and light tones. The paint is applied in layers, with splashes and smooth transitions giving the image cohesion. The painting has a calm look, with a clear focus on form and colour.

In my light-filled studio, I create abstract paintings in acrylic and oil. I work intuitively and draw inspiration from what you see in nature: structures, colour transitions and random shapes. I often build my work in thin, fluid layers, allowing depth and nuance to develop and sometimes giving the painting a slightly dreamy feel.
