About ‘Rijnhaven - Rotterdam @ Night’ by Mart Houtman

The Rijnhaven is a harbour basin in Rotterdam. The Rijnhaven is one of the oldest harbours on the south bank of the Nieuwe Maas. The construction lasted from 1887 till 1895. The surface is 28 ha.

The port was initially dug as a storage port for rhine ships, mainly for in the winter when the rhine ships could not enter the Rhine due to freezing of the upper rivers. In 1888, however, G.J. de Jongh, director of the municipal works, wrote in a report that transit traffic to Rotterdam continued to increase and that the new Rijnhaven had to be deepened to make it suitable for the largest seagoing vessels. The Rijnhaven became a port for transhipping bulk goods 'on current'. Seagoing vessels moored at buoys, away from the quay. Later, the Rijnhaven lost its transhipment function and became a storage port for inland navigation vessels. By 2015 the berths for inland navigation had been moved to Maashaven, among other places. The only ships that still sail there come to unload at the Codrico factory.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
