Rhine IV (Loreley) © 2023 (M) by Ralph Rainer Steffens. The Rhine at the rock of the Loreley is the most dangerous narrows of the river. According to Brentano, Heine and others, the mermaid Loreley, also known as Lurley, sits on the rock, combs her golden hair and draws the boatmen to their doom with a beguiling song.
The digital work is based on a photographic view of the Rhine and the rock of the Loreley in the upper Middle Rhine Valley near St. Goarshausen, Germany, Rhineland-Palatinate, which has been altered many times. My signature is in the lower right corner. Excellent for the very largest formats due to the extremely high image resolution.
