Vintage illustration created by American illustrator William Wallace Denslow (1856-1915). He is best known for his drawings in the first edition of 'The Wizard of Ozz'.
This illustration is from the 1901 book 'Denslow's Mother Goose', which contains rhymes and songs about mother goose. The image shows a blue goose smoking a pipe in a landscape of orange and green.
The illustration makes a unique addition to a retro interior where a little colour may be added.
Please note: this is a scan of the original print. In 1901, printing techniques were not as they are in the 21st century. So bear in mind that you may see, for example, spots and dashes that you also had in the children's book back then. The scan has been enlarged in nice quality, but no further processing has been applied so that the illustration retains its true authentic look.
