The Royal Aircraft Factory B.E. 2 was a British single-engine two-seat double-decker that was in service with the Royal Flying Corps from 1912 until the end of World War I. A total of about 3,500 of this aircraft were built.
The first versions entered service with the Royal Flying Corps in 1912. Initially, the aircraft was used as a reconnaissance aircraft and light bomber. Later also as a night fighter in which six German airships (zeppelins) were shot down between September and December 1916.
