About ‘Reflection of the poles’ by Stephan Scheffer
The history of Petten
In 1792 the village was completely submerged in the sea. In 1625 a storm destroyed no less than one hundred houses. On the present beach of Petten you find a monument (Palendorp) which symbolizes the old village. The monument Palendorp can be found at the beach of Petten aan Zee.
