Red poppies with blue delphinium flowers is a hand-painted watercolour painting in landscape format by the artist Karen Kaspar.
Bright red poppies and deep blue delphiniums bloom together in a flower bed in a summer garden. The red poppies are the focal point of the painting. Their luminosity is further emphasised by the contrasting background of cool blue and green tones. The picture is painted in a loose, flowing style, which gives the flowers a sense of movement, as if they are swaying in the summer wind.
It has been many years since this combination of red poppies and blue delphiniums bloomed in a bed in my garden. In the meantime, other flowers have long since taken their place. The memory is preserved through this watercolor painting.
