The red-legged falcon is 28 to 34 cm long and a wingspan of 65 to 76 cm. In size and silhouette, the red-legged falcon looks much like the tree falcon. The male is dark slate gray with red on the anal area. The female has a light rust-brown head and a blue-gray upper surface. Immature birds have a striped breast, yellowish-brown feather edges, a brown head cap and a banded tail. They look like immature tree falcons, but they don't have a banded tail and are much more uniform on the back and have a black head cap. Want to look at other photos from my shop?
