About the artwork

The koi carp is also known as the Nishikigoi or brocade carp. This fish with its "colorful dress" of black, red and white is the national fish of Japan.

The lotus flower symbolizes purity and pure skin. This is so because this flower is always equally beautiful. Whether it grows in clear water or muddy ponds.

Within Buddhism, the lotus flower also represents spiritual awakening. In Hinduism, the flower is associated fertility, prosperity and eternity.

This painting was made with watercolors. The white borders and dots made the painting very sparkling. The blue water and green leaves give it a fresh look.

Do you prefer just the lotus flower with leaves without fish in the painting? I painted this one in a similar style and can be found in the 'flowers/plants' collection in my own shop.

The original is 30 x 40 cm, but the nice thing about a print is that you can choose any size and material you want.

The painting has been photographed in such a way that the structure of the watercolor paper is still clearly visible. This has the advantage that it looks even more like a real painting, even though it is a print.
