This is not an autumn red leaf, but a leaf of the brown hazel in spring. Beautiful red leaf, illuminated and translucent by the sun in the sky directly behind the leaf. That sky was otherwise bright blue so it complements the red of the leaf nicely. That leaf gets darker later in the season. I first thought this was a leaf of red beech, but it is one of hazel. Beech leaves are not toothed, I was told.
