Red-brown Scottish Highlander with character (portrait wild cow powerful horns thick acrylic paint) by Natalie Bruns

This painting shows an imposing Scottish Highlander in warm, deep rust tones. Its long, tousled coat is full of texture applied with firm brushstrokes that are almost tangible. The massive horns protrude powerfully from the image, but the gaze is soft and calm. A wonderful balance between strength and calm. The background is sober, in dark earth tones, so that the fiery reddish-brown fur really stands out.

This work evokes a sense of rugged nature, of wind through grass and silence in the mountains. It gives a warm, robust feel which is ideal for lovers of Scotland, the outdoors or rustic interiors. A perfect eye-catcher over a fireplace, in a rural home, or just as a powerful accent in a modern interior. This highlander stands still, but speaks volumes.

My inspiration for creating a collection of animal portraits was inspired by my childhood, growing up among animals. My parents kept goats and sheep, among others, and that's where my love for nature and animal life was born. Each animal had its own character, its own look, its own energy, and it is precisely this diversity that still fascinates me. In these paintings, I try to capture not only the form, but especially the soul of the animal.
