This monotype or monoprint is made with a gelliplate and acrylic paint. A unique handmade and one-off piece, only 1 print can be made of your design. The graphic printing technique and the paper used create all kinds of structures and effects. The monoprint is further manipulated with collage and stencils and markers.
With the lines, reminiscent of electricity wires, and the black and white zebra drawing, May is reminiscent of the remodelling of a busy train station, such as Centraal Station Utrecht.
The tones are largely soft, with darker accents. All opposites are incorporated, round versus straight, dark versus light, warm versus cold.
An intriguing work, fitting anywhere, but perhaps especially suitable for someone with connections to construction.
