Rally poster De proef – world champions 1979–2026

by Sidney van den Boogaard

One winding road across a cream sheet, 48 seasons long. Every rally drivers' world title from 1979 to 2026 is an equal stretch of road, coloured by the champion's nation, with his name and the year on it. The road starts at the top as gravel, the years 1970–78 without a drivers' title, snakes through the decades and ends at the bottom with a flying finish; the dotted line beyond is 2027–29, still to be driven. History becomes a special stage you trace with a finger: the Finnish green of Kankkunen and Mäkinen, then the long blue straights of Loeb and Ogier, with Tänak, Rovanperä and Neuville as the corners between them, and Evans in 2026 as the last stretch before the finish. The legend counts per nation: France 19, Finland 15, Great Britain 3. For anyone who has followed rallying for decades, or only since Rovanperä.

This work is part of the Roll of Honour collection: sports history as a data print. Each print takes one sport and turns its whole roll of honour, from the first edition to today, into one graphic image, every name and number cross-checked against two independent sources.

Independent work, not affiliated with or endorsed by any league, federation, team or athlete; the data comes from Wikipedia and other public sources. A great gift for the fan who knows their sport's results by heart, for the living room, the study or the clubhouse.
