About "Queen of Hearts With Chinese Fan"

About the artwork

Drawing that I later updated digitally with various (homemade) brushes.

This work shows an elegant red-haired woman holding a Heartbird in her beringed hand. She is enthroned on an Arab majlis chair and behind her you can see two cuddling Lovebirds completely absorbed in each other. What could this scene mean? I didn't think about it too long myself and just let my imagination take its course. But the Heart Woman holding the somewhat dreamy lady could symbolise a close emotional bond between two people, a period of passion or romance, or the importance of following your heart and intuition rather than purely rational considerations. The image of a regal woman holding a heart represents the immense power of emotions and the ability to give and receive love. Moreover, the card can be seen as a sign of feminine energy and intuition, and sometimes symbolises motherhood. But there is more to it. The fan in her left hand is also used in some cultures as a means of communication. Like in Japanese culture, where different movements of the fan are used to convey emotions and messages. But the fan also has symbolic significance in a spiritual context. In Chinese feng shui, for example, the fan is considered a symbol of good luck and prosperity. And then there are the white flowers around it, which can be seen as symbols of purity, spiritual growth and new beginnings. They give us hope and allow us to reach our full potential.
