It is not easy to photograph a good reflection of buildings or other objects in slightly undulating water. If there is too little movement in the water then such a reflection becomes a bit boring. And if there are too many waves it quickly becomes too abstract. Ideally, you will recognize the mirrored object, but with large distortions.
Yet an abstract image can also have a special beauty. As far as I'm concerned, that is true for this photo.
I can tell that the photo was taken from a pontoon of the floating park under construction in Rijnhaven harbour in Rotterdam, near the New Orleans building. That with some difficulty we can recognize the basalt of the quay wall and the glass in the facade of the cinema Lantaren/Venster in the reflection. And that trees, lampposts and a yellow sign on the quay wall provide some extra detail.
But even without knowing that background it is possible to enjoy this work. Of this snapshot of a reflection that will never return, at least not in exactly this form.
My work can be found in the border regions of photography, painting and computer visuals. With my company 3Develop I do work in commission but I use the same techniques, skills and software to make free work.
