Beautiful tulip macro with a different colored tulip against a yellow background during spring in the Netherlands. The enhancing aspect of this photo is in the complementary color effect and the atmospheric depth of field. The sharp tulip against the soft background gives a romantic atmosphere where the purple tulip beautifully emerges in all its contrasts.
Bulb fields in the Netherlands. One of my favorite spring activities is to view the colorful bulb fields. Nothing makes me happier than spending a day touring and exploring the tulip fields. Tulips, along with sunflowers, have been my favorite flowers for years and what better way than apart from a fresh bunch right from the grower a great photo!
The largest continuous flower bulb area in the Netherlands can be found in the northern part of North Holland, roughly between Den Oever, Den Helder, Schagen and Medemblik. The dune area in the north of the country offers the perfect soil type for flower bulbs, so you'll find bulb fields in many more places in North Holland.
You can usually view bulbs from the end of March, but it depends on the weather what the optimal time is.
