Puente Nuevo in Ronda | Andalusia Spain | Watercolor painting

by WatercolorWall | Handmade paintings

If you’ve ever visited the beautiful region of Andalusia in southern Spain, you’ve probably also visited the imposing Puente Nuevo in the town of Ronda.
I thoroughly enjoyed this lovely part of Spain at the time and subsequently created a painting of this remarkable bridge.

The original painting was created using watercolours on watercolour paper. I used both soft and warmer pastel shades. The colour palette includes Terracotta, Ochre Yellow, Salmon, Aubergine, Lime Green and Olive Green tones, which radiate a warm atmosphere.
The painting exudes tranquillity whilst simultaneously evoking a lovely spring, summer or holiday feeling.

The painting has been photographed in high resolution and is available as an art print in both small and wall-filling sizes. Consider it as a painting above the dining table or as wallpaper in the kitchen, hall, bedroom, or as wall decoration in a tapas restaurant or travel agency.

Puente Nuevo, meaning ‘New Bridge’, is a stone bridge that is one of three bridges spanning the deep Tajo de Ronda gorge and the River Guadalevín. The gorge is up to 120 metres deep in places. Puente Nuevo is the newest bridge connecting the Mercadillo (market) and La Ciudad (the old town) districts of Ronda. Puente Nuevo stands 98 metres high and was designed by the architect José Martín de Aldehuela. In 1740, the bridge collapsed during construction. Building resumed in 1751 and was completed in 1793.
