About ‘Prague, The Charles Bridge’ by Edwin Kooren

Charles Bridge (Czech: Karlův most) is a famous bridge over the Vltava (Moldau) River in Prague. The bridge is located in the Prague 1 district and connects the Old Town with the Malá Strana district.

In 1357, on July 9, at 5:31 am, King Charles IV laid the foundation stone. That time corresponds to the numerological palindrome 135797531. The previous bridge, the Judith Bridge from the 12th century, had collapsed in 1342. Until 1841, Charles Bridge was the main link between the Old Town and Prague Castle. Originally called the Stone Bridge (Kamenný most), the bridge became Charles Bridge in 1870.

The bridge is 516 meters long and almost 10 meters wide. The structure consists of 16 arches with ice guards. The story goes that through the mortar used for the bridge, protein was mixed to obtain greater strength. The bridge is protected by three towers, one of which is on the side of the Old City (the east side). This tower is sometimes considered the most beautiful Gothic structure in the world.

On the bridge there are 30 statues. Most are in the Baroque style and were placed between 1683 and 1714. Among the most famous statues are that of the priest and martyr John of Nepomuk and the statue group of the "cruel Turk". The original sandstone statues were so weathered over time that they were replaced with replicas. The originals can be seen in the local lapidary.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
