Lago di Braies or also known in German as Pragser Wildsee is a famous Italian mountain lake in the Dolomites in South Tyrol, in northern Italy. This lake is also known as the "Pearl of the Dolomites" for a reason. Surrounded by mountains and larch trees, the water is a beautiful emerald green colour.
Lago di Braies lies at an altitude of 1,496 metres, in the middle of Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park and near the town of Prags (or Braies) in the Dolomites. The lake is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is also called "the pearl of the Dolomites. The lake is about 3.5km around. Near the lake is a wooden house with a jetty for renting boats. These boats lie like a garland across the water. I took the photo during a photo tour in October on a rainy day and converted it to black and white. Autumn coloured the larches and the clouds here that day were very low, this gave a nice atmosphere.
