Photo of old land reclamation piles on the mudflats near Ternaard, during low tide. In the photo, the piles are central. The photo was taken during sunset, giving the sky a beautiful and soft color.
Ternaard is a village in the municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân, in the Dutch province of Friesland. It is located northwest of Dokkum, north of Hantum, northeast of Holwerd and south of the Wadden Sea.
The village itself is known as an important starting/ending point in mudflat hiking, especially since one can make an entire trip from it to and from Ameland. Near Ternaard the Wad is beautiful, during low tide, you can see many old land reclamation piles. A favorite photo object for me. This photo was taken in March 2022.
