About ‘Portrait Veluws Heideschaap’ by Jenco van Zalk

Portrait of a Veluws Heideschaap was made on the heathland of Nature Reserve "De Renderklippen" near the villages of Heerde and Epe on the Veluwe. The area is also referred to as the Dellen. The flock of sheep is called the "Schaapskudde Epe-Heerde. The flock numbers about 130 sheep in winter. The Veluws Heideschaap is an endangered Dutch Sheep breed. Since 2006, the Schaapskudde Epe-Heerde has been an Approved Breeding Center for rare domestic breeds.
The grazing of the sheep helps nature management of the heathlands by grazing off the heather bushes, and grass and saplings to prevent overgrowth of the heather.
This photo was taken in the fall when the sheep are in their full winter coats.
It was a misty morning, with a gray, dark sky, which gives an entirely unique atmosphere to the photo.
Please note that the photo has intentionally limited depth of field/depth. Only the front sheep is in focus, the sheep behind it fall into the blur which gives a nice depth of field, 3D effect to the photo.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
