About ‘Playa de Silencio’ by Dick Hoogenboom

Metamorphic rock is rock that has been recrystallised or metamorphosed under the influence of temperature, pressure or hydrothermal fluids. This usually occurs at greater depths in the Earth's crust or mantle.

Metamorphic rocks are characterised by metamorphic minerals, minerals that grow in the rock under the influence of pressure and temperature. If a rock is only low-grade metamorphic, these minerals will be sporadic and small. High-grade metamorphic rocks consist entirely of metamorphic minerals.

The formation of metamorphic rock, like igneous rock, is an endogenous process, in contrast to sedimentary rock, whose formation is an exogenous process.

The original rock before recrystallisation or metamorphism is called the protolith. Often, characteristics of the protolith can still be recognised in metamorphic rocks, for example as compositional bands when the protolith was a layered sedimentary rock. In other cases, a volcanic texture can be recognised, for example, indicating that the protolith was a lava rock. The higher the degree of metamorphism of the rock, the fewer characteristics of the protolith are present.

Metamorphic rocks are often also deformed to a greater or lesser extent, but this is not necessarily the case.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
