One morning, I came across a striking pink grasshopper in the garden. These grasshoppers have a genetic defect. This lacks the green or brown pigment, making them pink in colour. Grasshoppers are more common in this colour, but because they are so conspicuous, they quickly fall prey to animals that have the insect on their menu.
