About ‘Pine Trees, Joseph August Knip’
Pine Trees (1812), Joseph August Knip The Dutch landscape painter Joseph August Knip brought back around 80 oil studies from his time spent in Italy between 1809 and 1812. They served as models for larger compositions, which is probably also the case for this unsigned depiction of pine trees typical of the Mediterranean region. The artist emphasised their outlines against the clear sky.
