Loenen aan de Vecht is a village in the Vecht region in the province of Utrecht. The village lies on the river Vecht, the village center has been a protected village sight since 1966 due to its well-preserved historic building. The historic center of the village is dominated by the large church and the bridge over the Vecht. The large church of Loenen aan de Vecht is a so-called Pseudobasilica of which the oldest part dates from the thirteenth century. Loenen aan de Vecht is also known for its many country estates along the river Vecht. These estates were constructed along the Vecht in the 17th and 18th centuries by wealthy Amsterdam merchants, where they spent their summers.
