Tips for use

  • Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.

About ‘Pickenoy's Portrait of a Man’ by Marja van den Hurk

My adaptation of the portrait of a man painted in 1635 by the Flemish-Dutch artist Nicolaes Eliaszoon Pickenoy (1588 – 1653/1656).

I gave the man a headdress of magnolia flowers. I also placed the man in front of the frame of the painting rather than inside it, and by adding shadows, I applied a Trompe-l'œil (French for…
