A lake you must have seen. The vibrancy of the area with its deep lake colour against the green forest makes for a beautiful picture. The day was perfect for this photo and keep in mind that the sun, when it penetrates the surface of the lake, makes the colour so stunning.
Peyto Lake is named after Ebenezer William Peyto, a guide and poacher who once lived here. The lake lies in a valley, the Waputik Mountains at an altitude of almost 1,900 metres. What is special about Peyto Lake is that you can admire the lake from a much higher platform. This forms a nice contrast with the other glacial lakes in Banff National Park.
