Dahlia is a plant genus in the composite family (Asteraceae). The genus includes about 10 species, which occur wild in Mexico. The native dahlias are bare, upright, perennial plants with elongated, tuberous roots. The leaves are very different from species to species. The cultivated dahlias as we know them are almost without exception hybrids. As many as 20,000 varieties exist
