About ‘Peasant woman from Tajikistan’ by Ruud van de Wiel

In 2016, I was commissioned by Oxfam to take photos's of peasant women in Tajikistan. Many of these women are left behind with their children because their husbands work as guest workers in Russia. This woman harvests everything on her own and successfully. She grows watermelons and grain. We walk through one of her grain fields here. With her earnings, she supports her two children, her mother and two female workers.

Through an interpreter, I conducted several interviews with her. Despite not being able to understand each other, we understood each other very well on an emotional level. Because of our click, she showed great vulnerability and I was allowed to follow her everywhere with a camera. I felt very welcome and was allowed to get very close. An hour after taking this picture, she made me taste the most delicious and freshest watermelon ever. Any watermelon is nothing compared to this one.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
