The Hungarian Parliament Building in Budapest, Hungary. Also known as "House of the Country" or "House of the Nation" it is the seat of the National Assembly of Hungary, a notable landmark of Hungary, and a popular tourist destination in Budapest.
It is located on Kossuth Square in the Pest side of the city, on the east bank of the Danube. This photo was taken during 'blue hour' from the Buda side of the city across the Danube River. It was taken with a slow shutter speed for the additional water and lighting effect.
The building was designed by Hungarian architect Imre Steindl in Gothic Revival style and opened in 1902. It has been the largest building in Hungary since its completion. The architectural style of the Hungarian Parliament Building was influenced by the Gothic Town Hall of Vienna, the Renaissance elements such as the dome were influenced by the Maria vom Siege Church in Vienna.
