On a brilliantly clear morning in September, before the sun has even scattered its golden rays over the Allgäu, you are standing on the summit of the Nebelhorn, 2224 metres high. A breathtaking panorama spreads out before you, framed by the striking peaks of the Entschenkopf (2043 m) and the Grüntens (1783 m). The Allgäu Alps lie there quietly, majestic and proud, while the Illertal remains hidden under a soft veil of shadow and mist. The first delicate autumn mists drift through the valleys, giving the landscape a mystical atmosphere that can only be experienced in early autumn. The clear air is filled with the gentle sound of the wind sweeping over the peaks and the deep blue sky promises a day full of light and clarity.
The contrasts are impressive: on top of the mountains the clear sky, below the banks of mist that lie like cotton wool over the valleys. The rocks glow in a warm, golden tone, the autumnal freshness is palpable, and yet summer has left its mark. In this peaceful stillness of the morning, you feel part of the overwhelming nature - a moment in which time seems to stand still for a moment.
