This photo was taken when we were on holiday in Mallorca. Previously, I never took my camera with me on holiday because I would always be photographing. Since a few years, I decided to take the camera with me, but I also agreed with myself that I shouldn't stand still too long while photographing. This demands a lot from my creativity but I notice that this has made me appreciate compositions and 'simple' objects. I look around more to take everything in. Like this old lamppost contrasting with the palm tree. The cinematic editing of this picture makes it feel almost like a documentary. The warm slightly pinkish colours perfectly match the blue of the sky. The grain in the photo also makes it a bit more vintage. This photo is timeless and takes you back to a warm summer day. You feel the warmth of the photo and imagine yourself on the spot. This is what I also want to achieve with my photos. Not just pretty pictures but details that take you into the story. And in this case it is Mallorca.
