Painted Red Ballerina by Arjen Roos

"Painted Red Ballerina" is my personal favorite and perhaps my "signature artwork". It arose from a collaboration with a fashion model who is also a talented dancer. Together with a makeup artist / hair stylist we did a photo shoot that gave my model photography a new direction. This experience fueled my passion for ballerinas and dance. It was a great experience to work with this model, who is also creative herself and strives for perfection in poses and end results.

I made a photo montage from the original photo, placing rose petals on the photo and processing it. In the end I used painting techniques to create a real digital painting. This work of art took an awful lot of hours, but in retrospect it has become an important milestone in my career as an artist. I have worked with the model a number of times.

I use this artwork as my "business card" on social media and of course it also hangs proudly in my own living room. I am very proud of it. The "Painted Red Ballerina" is a modern creation with a beautifully detailed accent that fits perfectly in a light, modern or even BoHo interior.

The work is a mix of gold, red, light, shadow, classic and modern, creating a beautiful contrast in various ways. The color red plays a prominent role, as in many of my works. It is definitely my personal favourite.

"Painted Red Ballerina" shows an elegant ballerina, dressed in a striking red outfit, posing on pointe shoes. The red of her clothing seems to merge seamlessly into a shower of red rose petals, making the dancer and her clothing seem inextricably linked to the flowers around her.

As an artist I have paid a lot of attention to the details, composition and the use of warm colors to create the right atmosphere. The result is a beautiful work of art that perfectly captures the essence of dance and beauty.
