The poplar is typical of the Dutch and also Belgian landscape. Poplar wood has been used for centuries, formerly as construction timber and panelling for railway carriages. Nowadays, it is mainly used in pallet-box production and paper manufacturing. Poplar wood does not easily ignite. It is still used in the clog industry.
